Winter Solstice at FLÖ

Cold water, cosy fires and festive treats.

A little midwinter magic

Fancy doing something a little different before Christmas? Join us by the lake this Winter Solstice for a swim or a soak, with crackling fires, hot chocolate and festive treats to enjoy along the way.

Catch the morning light or join us as the sun goes down. Bring your swimming friends, come with someone you’ve been meaning to catch up with, or pop along on your own. It’s a lovely excuse to get outdoors and enjoy a little time together before the Christmas rush.

A swim, a soak and something sweet

We’re keeping things simple with two ways to join us. Choose Swim Only for a lake dip and some time by the fire, or treat yourself to a 90-minute Hot Tub Spa session, with access to the lake, sauna, cold plunge and shared hot tubs.

There’s no set programme to follow. Enjoy the areas included in your booking at your own pace, and make time for a chat and something tasty. Spa guests don’t have to swim, so you’re very welcome to stick to the warmer parts!

Something tasty by the fire

Both ticket options include our festive drinks and treats. Toast a marshmallow over the fire, sandwich it between chocolate biscuits and make your own s’more. We’ll have hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, tea and coffee, and orange slices to nibble on too.

In the morning, there’ll be pastries to tuck into. In the afternoon, we’ll swap those for mini mince pies. Just the thing to enjoy wrapped up by the fire.

Sunrise sessions

For the early risers

7.30am - 9.00am | Sunrise is around 8:10am.

£10

Set the alarm for something a bit more fun. Join us for a Solstice swim as daylight arrives over the lake, then get dry, pull on your cosy layers and enjoy a pastry and a warm drink by the fire. A lovely start to the shortest day.

Sunrise Swim

£40

Make your morning a little more leisurely with a soak in the shared hot tubs and time in the lakeside sauna. The lake and cold plunge are included too, so you can choose how much dipping you fancy, with the morning’s drinks and treats to enjoy during your visit.

Sunrise Hot Tub Spa

Sunset sessions

A festive afternoon by the lake

3.30pm - 5.00pm | Sunset around 4pm

£10

Mark the end of the shortest day with a late-afternoon lake dip. Afterwards, swap your swimming kit for something cosy and gather around the fire for mini mince pies and marshmallow toasting. A lovely excuse to get your swimming friends together before Christmas.

Sunset Swim

£40

Leave the Christmas to-do list at home for a while. Settle into the shared hot tubs as daylight fades, enjoy the sauna, or take a lake dip or cold plunge. With festive refreshments and fireside breaks along the way, this is an afternoon for taking things a little slower.

Sunset Hot Tub Spa

The shortest day deserves a little celebration

The Winter Solstice has been celebrated in Britain for thousands of years, long before Christmas as we know it. From ancient gatherings at Stonehenge to midwinter feasts, it's traditionally been a time to come together, celebrate the changing seasons and welcome the return of longer days.

We love the idea of keeping that tradition going in our own little way. So here's to chilly dips, cosy fires, toasted marshmallows and good company. A chance to slow down, enjoy the season and share a little festive fun before Christmas.

Things to note

A few handy bits to help you get ready for your Solstice visit.

What does my ticket include?

Swim Only (£10) includes your lake swim, festive hot drinks and treats by the fire. Sauna, cold plunge and hot tub access aren’t included with this ticket.

Hot Tub Spa (£40) includes 90 minutes to enjoy the lake, sauna, cold plunge and shared hot tubs, along with the festive drinks and treats. The hot tubs are shared with other guests rather than privately booked for your group.

What should I bring?

Bring your swimwear, a towel, footwear for walking around the site and plenty of warm, dry layers for afterwards. Cosy socks and a changing robe are always handy for sitting by the fire.

For spa sessions, please bring an extra small towel to sit on in the sauna.

Please bring your own tow float and a light for swimming if you have them. Tow floats are required for lake swimming. We have some floats and lights available to borrow, but you might need to wait for another swimmer to finish if they’re all in use.

Winter swimming

Please come prepared for very cold water. Wetsuits are recommended but aren’t compulsory for these sessions. At the very least, we recommend wetsuit boots and a woolly hat. Wetsuit gloves are really helpful too.

Keep your dip short, then get dry and into your warm layers afterwards. Your booked session gives you time to enjoy your visit, not a target for how long to stay in the water.

Our lifeguards will be on duty throughout the lake sessions. Please follow their guidance and let the team know straight away if you feel unwell or need a hand.

If you haven’t swum outdoors through winter before, please get in touch before booking so we can talk through what to expect.

Using the spa

Please shower before your spa session. All spa facilities are shared, and you’re welcome to move between them at your own pace. There’s no set order to follow.

Arrival and practical bits

Please arrive 10 minutes before your booked session so we can check you in and run through a quick briefing without rushing.

There’s free parking on-site, along with changing rooms, showers and toilets. All Solstice sessions are for guests aged 18 and over.

Belongings

Please leave valuables at home and just bring what you need. Bags and belongings can be left in the changing rooms or on communal shelving, so bear in mind these are shared spaces.

Cancellations and transfers

Tickets are non-refundable but transferable. If your plans change, you’re welcome to pass your place on to someone else. Just email us with their name and email address, and we’ll update the booking for you.
